People and technology, working smarter
Drone Site Surveys uses people and technology to help organisations work smarter and safer, while reducing their carbon footprint. From our base in Liverpool, we survey, inspect and measure buildings and sites right across the UK.
Built to take the risk out of working at height
Getting eyes on a roof, a façade or a whole site used to mean scaffolding, cherry pickers and people working at height. We set out to change that.
Drone Site Surveys was founded in Liverpool in 2019. What started with drone roof surveys has grown into a full range of aerial and measured survey services, from thermal imaging and LiDAR scanning to 3D models, digital twins and multi-site programmes for some of the UK’s largest property portfolios.
We’re a fully accredited, independent surveying company. We’re not tied to any contractor or supplier, so our findings are always objective. Our job is simply to give you accurate, reliable information, delivered in a way that’s easy to use.
How we work
Four things guide every job we take on, whether it’s a single chimney or a national portfolio.
Safety first
Nobody at height who doesn’t need to be. Every flight is planned, risk assessed and flown by CAA approved pilots.
Work smarter
The right technology for the job, so you get better information in less time, for less money.
Independent & objective
We don’t sell repairs or work for contractors, so our findings are never influenced by who does the work.
Lower carbon
Fewer site visits, no scaffold deliveries and less wasted work, helping our clients reduce their carbon footprint.
The people behind Drone Site Surveys
Drone Site Surveys is led by its two directors, who are closely involved in every project.
Anthony Carter
Leads the flying and pilot side of the business
Anthony Carter is the Co-founder and Chief Pilot of Drone Site Surveys, a UK-wide unmanned aerial systems (UAS) provider specialising in commercial inspection and surveying.
Following several years of flying drones as an enthusiast, Anthony decided to use the technology for more than personal use, which led him to obtain his initial Permission for Commercial Operations (PfCO) in 2017.
During this time he developed an understanding of the property and construction industry to determine the best use of drone technology for the sector. The aim was to help asset owners gain a better understanding of their portfolios by capturing high-resolution data safely and efficiently, and reaching areas previously thought impossible to access.
In the years since, Anthony has carried out over 3,000 missions for a wide range of clients, scaling operations while maintaining a strict zero-incident safety record.
Anthony is an Ofqual Level 5 Chief Pilot, BINDT Level 2 Thermographer and BOHS Asbestos Surveyor, and holds a NEBOSH Certificate in Construction. Alongside supporting innovative processes within Drone Site Surveys, he delivers CPD sessions on drone adoption for clients looking to benefit from the technology, and has taken part in ARPAS working groups on the future of BVLOS operations in the UK.
Francis Pybis
Runs the office, client delivery and quality systems
Francis Pybis is the Co-founder and Director of Drone Site Surveys, and the person who makes sure every job is delivered right.
Francis came to drones from the construction industry, with a background in external building envelope refurbishment and more than 1,500 refurbishments completed in Manchester alone. That time on site gave Francis a first-hand understanding of what contractors, surveyors and asset owners need from a survey, and how slow, costly and risky it can be to inspect roofs and façades the traditional way.
In 2017, Francis and Anthony saw a gap in the market for a drone provider dedicated to construction, and formed Drone Site Surveys to fill it. While Anthony leads the flying and pilot side of the business, Francis runs the office and is the main point of contact for clients, from the first enquiry and quote through to the final report.
Francis also leads the systems and quality standards behind the service. This includes setting up and maintaining the company’s Constructionline Gold, SafeContractor, SSIP and Cyber Essentials accreditations, and leading its work towards ISO 9001 certification. It also covers the bespoke job-management software that tracks every project, the in-house tools that turn survey imagery into clear, consistent client reports and, most recently, a full overhaul of the company’s pricing and website.
The result is a well-organised, consistent service built around giving clients information they can act on.
Supported by a team of CAA approved pilots, BINDT Level 2 qualified thermographers and survey technicians across the UK.
